Jurassic Feels/// When I was in elementary school my teacher gave us an assignment to debate: Should dinosaurs be brought back to life via cloning?? Being madly in love with all things prehistoric, obviously, I passionately argued in favor of those MF’ers’ resurrection!!! At the time, I thought I would be a paleontologist when I grew up (just a casual scientific degree to fall back on if singing didn’t work out ??‍♀️). And honestly I wanted to ride a ? ? . (Definitely a velociraptor -a semi chill one tho-or an archaeopteryx- still think that’s such a fun word to say). I wondered what they really looked like, and simply did not trust that just because humans had dug up their bones we could assume we really knew about them. No soft tissue fragments could show us the variations in their skin color/ feather patterns...all we had was remnants and hypotheses. I longed to go back in time or somehow save up enough money from singing to get a cloned dinosaur of my own. Thinking of them roaming the same Earth as me, but millions and millions of years earlier just blew my little mind. ? /// don’t know where I’m going with this but here I still go... as life unfolds and I slowly surely become more conscious... the more I am able to embrace the beauty in not knowing. The sacredness of surprise. Staying open to things unfolding in ways I couldn’t have expected. Letting go and going with the flow. Reconnecting to the intuition and imagination I was so in tune with as a little girl is a big part of my healing as a young woman. Practicing being unattached to my ego’s expectation of how things should unfold...Ooooh lawwwwwwd issa PRAAAAACTICEEEEE. After seeing the latest Jurassic Park movie tonight, I took a moment to remember what dinosaurs made me think of as a kid: protection, mythology, inconceivable change, extinction, fear and fascination, predator and prey. Thinking of how those themes still resonate with me deeply today. Do you see connections between what you loved as a kid and who you are shaping up to be today? Love,
lil science nerd jo.
